European Parliament Calls for Kenya and Sudan to Comply with ICC

European Parliament in a resolution adopted today expressed its regret for Kenya’s decision to invite President Omar Al-Bashir during the signing of the new Constitution.[:]

European Parliament furthermore calls on the international community, including all African countries, to ensure full accountability for crimes under international law committed, particularly those in Sudan.Chairwoman Hautala welcomes the resolution noting that strong message in support of the International Criminal Court from EU is highly necessary at a time when the member states of the Court are manifestly failing their obligations under Rome Statute.

European Parliament furthermore calls upon the African Union to review its position and rise up against impunity, injustice, war crimes against humanity or genocide. This is in particular vitally important in the face of Sudan’s unyielding refusals to cooperate with the ICC.
