Chairwoman Hautala wrote on 9th of February to EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Baroness Ashton, asking her to allow MEPs access to a strategy paper presented to the EU Council concerning the arms embargo on China. [:]
Baroness Catherine Ashton of Upholland
High Representative of the European Union for
Foreign Affairs and Security Policy
Vice President of the European Commission
Rue de la Loi 200
B-1049 Brussels
9.2.2011
Dear Baroness Ashton
At the Subcommittee on Human Rights’ meeting of 26 January, MEP Barbara Lochbihler tabled a question to the EEAS/Commission on the issue of the arms embargo on China.
As the Commission’s representatives did not feel able to give a precise answer to the question, I would be grateful if you could provide me with the relevant details.
Recent press articles, such as the EU Observer of 5 Janury 2011, refer to a strategy paper. In the spirit of our excellent cooperation and our understanding of transparency, I ask you to allow the Members of the European Parliament access to the relevant document presented to the European Council in December 2010.
Yours sincerely,
Heidi Hautala
