Today we received very sad news that the mother of the wife of the killed Russian human rights defender Maksharip Aushev has died in a car explosion yesterday 16. December 2009 in Ingushetia. In the car there was also the wife of Mr Aushev. She remains in critical condition in a hospital. She is seven months pregnant. According to the witness accounts the car was stopped and searched by the police before the explosion and when the Aushev family was driving away the police opened fire which led to the explosion. I would like to express my deepest condolences to the Aushev family. At this difficult time my thoughts remain with them.
