Chairwoman Hautala is travelling to Honduras and Mexico with the delegation of European Parliament Subcommittee on Human Rights 16 – 20 May. [:]In Honduras the delegation will hold meetings with the Human Rights Commission of the National Congress, Special Prosecutor for Human Rights, Sandra Ponce, several civil society organisations, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Coordinator, and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.

In Mexico meetings will be held with Ministry of Interior concerning the reform of judicial system and with the Ministry of Defence concerning human rights in the
military and police. Meetings with civil society organisations will be held to discuss access to justice in the fight against impunity, protection of human rights defenders, women’s rights/ feminicides, migrant’s rights and indigenous peoples’ rights. Special Commission on Human Rights and national members of Parliament and Senators will also be met with.
