Dear Mr President,

As the issue has been raised in the plenary by Mr Raül Romeva i Rueda, I imagine you are aware of the report that the Colombian secret service (DAS) has apparently been engaged in actions designed to undermine the democratic opposition. In the context of documents appearing in the media in Colombia, it emerges that the activities of the DAS may even have concerned the contacts of NGOs with the Subcommittee on Human Rights of the European Parliament.

I would like to ask what action you plan to undertake in order to receive the assurance that if such activity has been undertaken, it has been ended definitively. It would also be appropriate to ask the Colombian authorities what actions are being taken against those responsible for such a concerted attack on the activities of human rights defenders and international organisation such as the EU and the OAS with which they have, perfectly legitimately, been in contact with.
