Chairwoman Hautala met Minister Carlsson to discuss in detail the Swedish presidency aim of making the EU support for democracy-building more effective. EU human rights instruments were also discussed and emphasis was on how to make them more effective and monitor their work. Most importantly, Ms. Hautala emphasized that in this context it is of most importance to integrate a human rights based approach (HRBA) to development.
